Analytics & Optimisation

Making more of the visitors you already have turn into business.

Making more of the visitors you already have turn into orders, enquiries or bookings. Most improvement work goes into getting more people to the site, and comparatively little into what happens once they arrive, which is usually where the cheaper win is.

The detail

You get A/B testing on the pages that matter, funnel analysis showing where people drop out, changes made and measured rather than guessed, and a monthly report on what was tested, what won and what it is worth. Testing means running two versions against each other with your real visitors instead of arguing about which looks better in a meeting.

This needs traffic to work, and there is a floor: two thousand sessions a month. Below that, testing cannot tell a real improvement from random variation, and charging for it would be selling you noise. If you are under the floor, the honest answer is that traffic comes first, and we will tell you that rather than taking the retainer.

Who this is for

You have steady traffic, comfortably above two thousand visits a month, and you can see that plenty of people arrive and few of them do anything. You already know what a conversion is worth to you, so a small percentage improvement is money you can calculate. You would rather test than redesign on instinct.

When this is not the right answer

Below two thousand sessions a month this does not work and we will say so: the answer is more traffic first, through search or ads. If you cannot yet measure what people do on your site, the Analytics Setup has to come first, because there is nothing to test against. If your site is fundamentally dated, the Website Refresh will do more than testing its parts.

Common questions

Whatever the funnel analysis says is costing you most: usually headlines, page layout, form length, calls to action, or the checkout and enquiry steps where people abandon. It starts from where people are dropping out rather than from someone's opinion about the design.
They get dropped, and that is a normal outcome rather than a failure. A test that shows a change makes things worse has saved you from making it permanently. The monthly report includes those, because only reporting the wins would make the whole exercise pointless.
Because a single test needs time to reach a trustworthy result, and one test is not a programme. Three months is the shortest honest window to run several, learn something and act on it. After that it is rolling.
Tests are agreed with you before they run. What is deliberately not up for negotiation is the result: if the version you preferred loses, it loses. That is the entire reason for testing rather than debating.
